Thus it was historically formed, that the separated Mari settlements because of their misfortunes and unhappiness had to search for patronages and protection by a powerful prince, fighter-bogatyr Chumbylat. In the hearts of people he deserved a special respect, with the lapse of time a national hero became as a Mari public Divinity A Nemda Kuryk Kugyza. Our ancestors began to come to the bow to Chumbylat's stone to ask for the help and to thank for it.

Even during the years of persecutions nothing could destroy the faith of people. In our days ancient traditions unite from a year to year more and more Mari people. We call on you not to forget about your historical native land, remember your roots and traditions of your nation. And let A Nemda Kuryk Kugyza to unite us, will give us powers in the present time and in the future!

If you hear the call of heart, then let Osh Kugu Jumo to light up your way to the holy place. Before the beginning of the propagation of monotheistic studies Mari people deified many well-known Gods by the name Jumo, considering in this case the supremacy of the Main God (Kugu Yumo). The figure of the Unique God Of Tjung Osh Kugu Yumo (A Unique Great Bright God) was revived in the XIX century.

The existence during many centuries and a wide acceptance of the Mari Traditional Religion is confirmed by both historical and modern sources.
